Vinyl is a sound reproduction format based on the mechanical analog recording. The vinyl acetate gave better sound quality compared to other materials used in the Edison phonograph cylinders. The first vinyl record was recorded on February 1925. The disc 45 r.p.m. appeared in 1955.
The process of playing the vinyl is based on the mechanical conversion of movement experienced by the turntable needle when following the path. The electrical signals generated in the pickup capsule are processed to obtain separate stereo signals and sent to the amplifier and from there to the speakers.
From 50s until the late twentieth century, the vinyl records were the primary medium for recorded music. Edited popularly 2 speeds: 33 1/3 R.P.M. and 45 R.P.M. and in diameters of 7, 10 and 12 inches. Depending on the diameter and number of songs which contains it has different names: Single, EP or Extended Play, Maxi single, LP or Long Play.
